African Sandalwood
Usage of quality ingredients is an essential part of crafting instruments with mesmerizing tone colors. Having been seasoned for a substantial period of time, this African Sandalwood is highly coveted for both furniture and instrument making. Heavily contributing towards this Banhu’s achingly sweet tone, this wood also has a low level of moisture content, resulting in a very stable and solid structure that you can rely on.
Utilizing choice cuts of Paulownia wood, Bo Yue’s soundboards often endow its instruments with a lyrical tone color. Having undergone extensive air drying, the final product yields a Banhu that is beautiful in both appearance and sound production. A great economic model to start your Banhu journey with.
The key to a sensitive and good sounding Banhu lies in the resonating skin of the sound box. You will find the skin is stretched to a uniform tension across the sound box and is fitted by hand. When you gently press the skin with your fingers, you will find that it is firm to touch. This ensures that the membrane will resonate the sound box to its maximum potential so as to give you a full and deeper sound.
The traditional straight edged headstock is mated with a pair of bronze mechanical tuning pegs. These durable and precise mechanical pegs are required to hold up the high tension steel strings of the banhu as well as allow you to tune it efficiently and precisely.
