One of the softest rosin in the Pirastro line, the Oliv-evah rosin gives a really good grip on the strings. If you would like to feel the vibrations of a huge dynamic range of sound, then the Pirastro Oliv-evah rosin is suitable for you. This softer type of rosin is generally made from tree saps tapped from trees during summer heading into fall, and it is usually more suitable for colder and less humid climate, or cold air-conditioner controlled environments.
This rosin is often used by Erhu players as many players fancy the grip that it provides. As the Erhu has a relatively lower string tension as compared to the violin, having this additional grip really helps with the handling and tone colour. If you like rosin with slightly lesser grip but a smoother sound, you might want to consider harder rosin like the Pirastro Schwarz rosin.
