Handcrafted individually by Bao Ying Ying (鲍颖颖) under the supervision of her father Bao Ya Nan (鲍颖颖) – The Dizis and Xiaos are made with great precision. The father and daughter duo have a combined experience of more than 70 years of Dizi making. Generations of making Dizis, the Bao family is extremely well known in the region of Hangzhou, Tong Ling Qiao and their craft can be described as exquisite and beautiful.
With their impeccable craftsmanship, the Dizis and Xiaos are tuned to the concert pitch and is very precise in terms of pitching accuracy. This enables you to play with an orchestra or an ensemble setting with great ease.
The Bao family has a huge stockpile of bamboos which are air-dried between 8 to 20 years to ensure that the materials are stable and long lasting, on top of sounding rich, soothing and mellow.

Made of White Bamboo (苦竹) that is 16 years air dried, this Dizi is loud and you will find that the tone colour of this Dizi is superb almost every scenario. The White Bamboo (苦竹) is the most popular choice bamboo among the Dizi musicians because of its tonal projection.
With a sleek tuning metal joint along with handcrafted body and holes, this Dizi is very useful in environments that do not have climate controls. Carefully tuned by hand, you will be surprised by how amazing this Dizi can be when it comes to intonation control and tone colour.

I love this dizi. Sound is produced easily and without a tremendous amount of air. After struggling a little on other flutes especially at the higher octave, this one was a breath of fresh air (pun intended). The joint is very secure and easily adjustable. The bindings are not in clear nylon as is usually the case with other dizi, but a somewhat braided cord/thread. This is very aesthetically appealing and the tactile sensation is great.
The flute arrived without damage in a very sturdy pvc pipe. Eight Tones ships extremely quickly. You are likely to be very pleased.
