Combining both the power of Type B Guzheng strings and the resonance of Shanghai Dunhuang’s Grade 1 paulownia wood soundboard, this is a Guzheng to be reckoned with. Carefully air dried in a controlled environment over the course of 25 years, this soundboard is seasoned to perfection to produce the signature Bright and Vibrant Dunhuang sound that you will want to possess.
Colored a deeply luxurious auburn, this Guzheng frame is diligently crafted from premium cuts of the Bubinga Wood. A classic design, this exotic wood is especially durable compared to its close counterparts, possessing high density. A worthy Guzheng that will serve you well through your music journey.
Using only premium selections of White rosewood, these bridges are made to the shape of the Dunhuang Guzheng soundboard so that the vibrations from the strings could travel to the soundboard well and thus maximizing the tonal projection of the Guzheng.
Complementing the top soundboard, this Grade 1 paulownia wood backboard is made from the same type of wood as the top soundboard to resonate in the similar fashion so that the sound could be amplified in a uniform manner to bring you the type of sound that is crystal clear and resonant.
Titled “Rainfall at Dusk”, this design was created by the late legendary Guzheng maker Xu Zheng Gao. Featuring a backdrop akin to an intricately carved window panel, each side is delicately inlaid with ivory-white discs blended from a mix of resin and bone. A classic design that has continued to enjoy immense popularity over the last two decades.
The following accessories will be provided alongside purchase of the Guzheng: a Dunhuang manual, Guzheng tape, acrylic resin nails, a Guzheng soft case, legs, a tuning wrench, as well as 21 Guzheng bridges. The Dunhuang B strings will also be set up on the Guzheng beforehand.
Guzhengs for local orders will be pretuned, with a final check being conducted before we deliver them to you. Due to structural concerns, Guzhengs for overseas shipping will not be set up beforehand, so you can rest assured even if you choose to buy your Guzheng online. Instead, we will enclose a guiding blueprint that demarcates where the bridges should be set up. Fine tuning will be required again after installation of bridges.

I decided to learn Gu Zheng on a whim slightly more than a year ago. Had absolutely no knowledge on the instrument, thus picking a good one out for my needs as a beginner was out of my depth. I purchased my gu zheng from Eight Tones straight after my first lesson with them.
In terms of service, they were very patient with me when i took some time to decide the lesson package due to my tight schedule. Their timetable were up to date in their electronic system and i could plan my schedule on the spot easily with them.
The staff were very knowledgeable including the girl who assisted me in making decision for the type of gu zheng in terms of wood quality, sound quality etc. And she helped me to tune my instrument professionally and fast enough as i was actually in a hurry to bring my son for tuition after that.
Thanks to all of them and i enjoyed my lesson so far.
